Our Bailee , Lambeau and Phoebe

Bailee and Phoebe are no longer with us but will always be here is spirit!

My name is Christine and along with my husband Craig we own and operate Happy Tails LLC, dog motel.

The idea for Happy Tails LLC  was conceived when we were looking for a place to board our own dogs and we were unhappy with the options available. We knew that Bailee, Lambeau and Phoebe would be unhappy and likely anxious, staying in a traditional boarding kennel. It can be hard to ask your friends and family to provide dog care. We even took our small pack on our honeymoon! We know how difficult it is to be away from your furry family member and even more so if you are worrying about their care.

Our goal is to provide a loving, anxiety free experience for your family dog. We provide lots of personal attention and activity to keep our guests sporting happy tails!

We spent over a year looking for the right location to open this service. Happy Tails is run from our home in rural Stoddard WI. We have 8 kennels, including 2 suites which gives us the opportunity to give all the guests plenty of attention. We have been in business for over 8 years and we have lots of experience with animals.  Both Craig and I grew up with family pets and we have 4 dogs and 2 cats at present. I am trained in pet first aid through the Red Cross, by a local veterinarian. I have long been interested in dog behavior and have done hours of research and reading on the subject as well as taking a number of classes on behavior and animal welfare.  I have completed a course on canine cognition taught by Brian Hare of Duke University- it was a very interesting and thought provoking course. He and his wife have authored a great book on the subject titled 'The Genius Of Dogs' I highly recommend it. Some of my favorite authorities and authors on the subject are Patricia McConnell, Jennifer Arnold,Temple Grandin and Alexandra Horowitz.
Another favorite author is Jon Katz. He has amazing dog stories and and shares some life changing experiences and thoughts on dogs and their role in our life.
I am also very proud to be part of the team at La Crescent Animal Rescue- doing everything we can to help find new homes for area dogs ad cats.
